Organization for Community Engagement (OCE) started in 2018 as a voluntary initiative formulated by group of graduates from environmental and social sciences disciplines. Mainly, the initiative engaged in knowledge dissemination in rural areas on Climate change adaptation, Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH), Conservation and restoration of degraded forest ecosystems, and advocating against any forms of Gender Based Violence (GBV). In August 2020, the initiative obtained its legal registration as a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) with registration number ooNGO/R/1297, registered under the Tanzania Non-Governmental Organization Act 2002, with the permit to operate National wise.
Currently, OCE works with numerous partners to address key Environmental conservation and degradation issues, Strengthening Food Security and Food Systems, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and Gender Based Violence (GBV), Research and Policy Advocacy in Tanzania through implementation of results and evidence based interventions. OCE is further committed to implement sustainable, people-centered programs that improve livelihoods through development stakeholders’ engagement.
